2017 Advanced Placement Information

for Parents and Students (Feb. 2017)

 
Students enrolled in AP courses are encouraged to take the AP exam in early May, 2017. The policy regarding issuance of college credit is determined by the college or university you are applying to, and will vary between institutions. Check with your identified college or university to see if credit will be given for Advanced Placement Testing before you order an exam, or visit www.collegeboard.org/apcreditpolicy.

It is necessary for you to make a commitment by March 16, 2017 so that we can meet deadlines set forth by the Advanced Placement Program. The cost of each exam is $84.00 (or $53 for Free/ Reduced Lunch students). There may be a $25.00 late fee applied to each test ordered after Thursday March 16th at 3:00pm until Friday March 17th at 3:00pm, cash/check only. No exams can be ordered after Friday March 17th, 2017 at 3:00pm.

All AP students and families will have access to the PGHS AP Store at myschoolbucks.com (link on the PGHS Website) and be able to order exams with a credit card (which will include an on line ordering fee). The registration period begins on March 1st, 2017.

**On line Registration will be open from March 1st – March 16th, 2017.
Students unable to purchase exams via on line AP Store may pay with cash or check (payable to Pottsgrove High School) in PGHS Counseling Office using Registration Form found in Counseling Office or AP classrooms the last week of February. March 1st – March 16th ordering window also applies to cash/check payments.

Should you decide not to take an exam you have registered for, you must let the Guidance Office know at least one “business or school” day in advance to receive a partial refund.

**All students must participate in a pre-administration session to complete exam-related paperwork, which will save a lot of time on test day.

The Pre-administration session will be held on Thursday April 20th in the HS Cafeteria during PRIDE period from 9:54 – 10:38.
